The fastest way into Platinum Medallion is a status match, not a card or a spend threshold. Hold elite status at one of four partner airlines and Delta will start you off with 90 days of complimentary Platinum Medallion within 24 hours of enrollment confirmation — no flying required to get in the door.
Four tiers qualify, all on identical terms: United MileagePlus Premier Platinum,
American AAdvantage Executive Platinum, and
Alaska Atmos Platinum each land you at the same Platinum Medallion match. United's top tier, Premier 1K, gets you there too, but no higher — Delta caps every match at Platinum, so a 1K flyer ends up in the exact same place as someone matching from Premier Platinum.
The US Amex Centurion card confers Platinum Medallion directly, complimentary on enrollment — no match needed. It's invite-only, with reported personal spend around $350,000/yr (about $500,000/yr for the business card), plus a $10,000 initiation fee and $5,000 annual fee. Enrolled Centurion Platinum Medallions must earn $2,500 MQD/year to stay eligible for Delta Choice Benefits.
The match itself costs nothing, but keeping status past 90 days does: you need $3,750 MQD within the Match Period, extending Platinum Medallion through 2028-01-31. Enrollment runs 2026-01-01 through 2026-12-31, and you need a SkyMiles account 30+ days old, one Delta flight above Main Basic in the past three years, and documented earned status at the partner airline. It's a one-time move per rolling three years — not eligible if you already ran a Status Match or complimentary Medallion between 2023 and 2026.
Silver Medallion has its own path now that Delta status runs entirely on MQD with no flight minimum: four Delta Amex cards clear it on spend alone. Each grants a $2,500 MQD Headstart per Qualification Year plus uncapped MQD Boost, so reaching Silver's $5,000 MQD just takes enough spend. Reserve Amex and Reserve Business Amex earn $1 MQD per $10 spent, so Headstart plus $25,000 in annual spend gets you there; Platinum Amex and Platinum Business Amex earn half that, $1 per $20, needing $50,000 in annual spend for the same $5,000 MQD.
