Silver comes automatically with three cards: the Hilton Honors Amex (no-AF) confers it for as long as you hold the card, and the Amex Corporate Gold Card (US) and Amex Corporate Green Card (US) add it on enrollment for their cardmembers. That corporate-card Silver isn't fully permanent - Hilton can deactivate it if you don't book and pay for a qualifying stay by the end of the following calendar year, then annually after that. Spend is also a lever off the no-annual-fee card: putting $20,000 on the Hilton Honors Amex (no-AF) in a calendar year upgrades that automatic Silver to Gold, valid through the end of the following calendar year.

The fastest way to Gold status is a credit card: hold the Hilton Honors Amex Surpass, the Amex Platinum (US), or the Amex Business Platinum (US), and Gold shows up automatically once you enroll, for as long as you keep the card. In Canada, the same instant Gold comes from the Amex Platinum (Canada) or the Amex Business Platinum (Canada). The Hilton Honors Amex Business and the Amex Corporate Platinum (US) also confer Gold automatically on enrollment, no spend required.

If you already carry elite status in another hotel program, you don't need a card at all. Hilton will match Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite or Titanium Elite, World of Hyatt Globalist, or IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite into an instant 90-day Gold status worldwide - but it's a one-time move per Hilton Honors membership, not something you can repeat every time a card promotion changes. Stay active during that window and Hilton will challenge you up to Diamond; exact night counts differ slightly by program and are in the reference below.

Diamond itself is much harder to get for free. The Hilton Honors Amex Aspire and the invite-only Amex Centurion (US) are the only cards that hand it over automatically, for as long as you hold the card. The Surpass card, which gets you Gold at no cost, only reaches Diamond if you put $40,000 on it within a calendar year - and that upgraded status runs through the end of the following calendar year. The same $40,000 threshold upgrades the Hilton Honors Amex Business from its automatic Gold to Diamond.

Complimentary Hilton Honors Gold upon enrollment. Distinct employer-issued corporate-card product from both amex-plat-us and amex-biz-plat-us (separate URL slug, e.g. '-cplat'/'corporate-platinum'). Confirmed via Amex's own dedicated corporate-platinum benefit page (found chasing an incidental lead from the Hilton/Hyatt batch).
