What Hilton Honors Amex (no-AF) unlocks

Every route out of this card starts the same way: spend $20,000 on it in a calendar year to trigger Hilton Gold, good through the end of the next calendar year. That's a US benefit — holding the card by itself doesn't move you any further. Clear that spend, though, and Hilton Gold becomes the springboard into hotel, car-rental, and cruise status you'd otherwise have to earn or match into separately.

From Hilton Gold, Choice Privileges will match you straight to Platinum — a once-per-lifetime option open to both US and Canadian members. Wyndham Rewards matches Gold straight to Diamond for free, though that status only lasts 90 days unless you add 10 qualifying nights with Wyndham to extend it.

On the car-rental side, Hilton Gold also earns a match into National Emerald Club Executive Elite, and from there the routes fork three ways. One branch matches directly into Avis President's Club. A second picks up Hertz President's Circle on its way to Enterprise Plus Platinum — the reference below maps that chain hop by hop. The third goes straight to Sixt Platinum, where the matched status doesn't expire.
