What Amex Air Canada Card unlocks

The invite-only Amex Air Canada Card, issued only in Canada, is the entry point to ten programs across airline and car-rental categories, and every one of them runs through the same base move: the card confers Air Canada Aeroplan Elite 50K to basic and supplementary cardmembers alike for the first two Elite Status benefit years, then requires $50,000 CAD in net purchases in the 12 months before each card anniversary to keep it going forward.

From Elite 50K, Alaska Atmos's official status-match chart converts it to Atmos Gold, a match open worldwide, and that single hop is the hinge for nearly everything downstream. One branch carries Atmos Gold through JetBlue's chart into Mosaic 1 and then, via Southwest's own chart, into A-List — the full terms for each leg sit in the reference below. The other branch runs Atmos Gold into United Premier Gold and from there into National Emerald Club Executive Elite, which then splits three ways. Avis matches Executive Elite directly to President's Club. Sixt matches that same Executive Elite tier directly to Platinum. National's Executive Elite also matches into Hertz President's Circle, which itself matches into Enterprise Plus Platinum — rental brands routinely match each other's tiers this way, so the crossing between Hertz, National, Avis, Sixt, and Enterprise is normal, not a detour.

None of this costs money beyond meeting each program's own match terms, but a few carry real fine print: United's match requires an activating flight, and extending it past the initial complimentary window takes actual flying rather than spend. Hertz's match is a once-per-five-years move. Southwest's registration window for this particular match closes December 30, 2026.
