Even at the entry tier (1-99 days), Venetian Society status carries weight elsewhere: it also matches into Classic with MSC Voyagers Club, again a global, once-per-lifetime move. The difference is upkeep — MSC lets the matched tier lapse if you don't sail with them within three years of approval, while the Explora match has no stated expiry once it's granted. Neither costs anything beyond the paperwork, so the choice between them really comes down to which line you'd actually book next.
