How to get Carnival Rewards status

Carnival Rewards has exactly one path into status, and it runs through every tier: the Carnival Rewards Mastercard (Barclays). Starting September 1, 2026, when the revamped Carnival Rewards program replaces VIFP, everyday spend on the card earns Status Qualifying Stars at a rate of one star per dollar, and those stars alone are enough to land you at Gold, Platinum, or Diamond — no cruising required.

The tiers just take more spend as you go up. Gold needs 10,000 Stars, meaning $10,000 in card spend within the earning year. Platinum needs $50,000, and Diamond needs $100,000. All three run on the same rolling two-year earn-and-retain window, so the spend has to repeat to keep the tier — except Diamond, which is a genuine exception: once you earn it under the new program, Carnival keeps you at Diamond for life instead of asking you to requalify.

That makes the card the only real lever here. There's no separate loyalty-side path in this data — everything above Gold is just a bigger version of the same spend target, so the real decision is how much of your annual spend you're willing to route onto this one card to get there.

EFFECTIVE 2026-09-01: same mechanics — 1 Status Qualifying Star per $1 everyday spend; Diamond = 100,000 Stars ($100,000 spend/yr). Once earned under the new program, Diamond is retained for life (this life-time-retention rule is a NEW-program feature; do not conflate with the separate legacy-VIFP-Diamond grandfathering protection date, which applies only to pre-2026-09-01 legacy members, not new card-earners).

EFFECTIVE 2026-09-01: under the new Carnival Rewards program (replaces VIFP), 1 Status Qualifying Star per $1 on everyday card spend; Gold = 10,000 Stars ($10,000 spend/yr). Status is earned on a rolling 2-year-earn / 2-year-retain basis (exact window language, not a fixed calendar end date — do not carry forward an unsourced fixed expiry).
